Los Ositos Vineyard
Overview
This vineyard represents the heart and sole of SLC, bearing the original land grant name, Los Ositos was the first winegrape property in the company’s portfolio. This large-scale vineyard focused primarily on Sauvignon Blanc, with additional Pinot Noir and Merlot. Los Osistos offers a diverse menu of varieties and trellis styles. This includes traditional VSP systems, Quad and some of the pioneering High Wire Mechanical systems in the Central Coast.
This vineyard packs some power with its significant scale, consistency, and overdelivering value compared to competing vineyards.

What Makes This Vineyard Distinct
The consistent topography at Los Ositos creates beneficial farming environment, with well drained soils and blocks designed for uniformity and efficiency.Water resources at Abe’s are supported by the natural recharge of the Salinas River system, where seasonal flows help replenish groundwater supplies and contribute to consistent, high quality irrigation water. This relationship between river and vineyard reinforces SLC’s long term approach to managing land and water responsibly.
Los Ositos boasts Lockwood channery loam soils which are well drained fertile soils with great water holding capacity. These versatile soils pair perfectly with wine grapes seasonal demands, allowing application appropriate levels of stress during the desired phenolic stages of fruit ripening.

Salinas Land Company’s vineyard operations are managed through a long-standing partnership and collaboration with Monterey Pacific, Inc., one of the region’s most respected premium winegrape farming organizations. At Los Ositos, fruit quality, uniformity, and timing are core focuses of the annual farming plan.
